How does contactless payment work?
3 easy steps
1) Check the value of the payment amount on the POS terminal display;
2) Attach your contact card to the symbol on the POS terminal;
3) An audible signal and a lit indicator light confirm that the payment has been successfully completed.
How does MasterCard contactless technology work?
The MasterCard contactless card has a built-in computer chip with an antenna that sends a wireless transaction signal to the POS. This enables Tap & Go.
No need to give your MasterCard contactless card at checkout. After data exchange, the terminal beeps and shuts off. And that is all!
At points of sale that do not yet have a MasterCard contactless terminal, the card works as a regular credit / debit card.
Is MasterCard Contactless Technology Safe?
The technology is completely secure, as has been proven by the use of this technology for many years worldwide.
The signal from the card is transmitted quickly and briefly and thus cannot be misused. All data is encrypted and protected. A MasterCard contactless card is a reliable choice for millions of customers worldwide.
How can I be sure that I will not double pay the same amount?
The terminals are programmed to shut down as soon as payment is completed. An acoustic and visual signal will indicate when this occurs. Therefore, even if you do not remove the card after the signal, no double payment can occur. You can also ask the seller to issue you a transaction confirmation.
Can MasterCard payments by contactless card be treated as cash transactions?
No, these transactions are treated as credit / debit purchases.
Can I use a MasterCard contactless card to pay online?

Where can I use a MasterCard contactless card?
You can find MasterCard contactless terminals almost anywhere in the world. To use contactless payment, just look for the symbol you see in Figure 2 in easy steps and the MASTERCARD contactless payment logo at points of sale. If the point of sale does not have contactless technology, your MasterCard can be used as a regular credit / debit card
